CFSSC Stories – Greg – Domestic Violence

05f0de4e00a0c6620aafcc92fbfffc9b

Counselling for Domestic Violence

Greg* was referred to CFSSC for anger management due to his abusive relationship with his partner Donna.  His involvement in counselling, for the most part, unremarkable and the therapist was surprised when Donna called to refer their son and his girlfriend for couples counselling.

domestic violence counsellingDonna shared how much Greg had changed his behaviour and how he credited his counselling at CFSSC for helping him to understand how his behaviour was controlling and abusive.  Greg was so appreciative of the counselling that he wanted to be sure that his son learned early about how to create a loving and supportive relationship and how to communicate effectively. In fact, Greg attended their first session and shared what he had learned in counselling and expressed his regret for any hurt he had caused his son due to his treatment of his mother.

Greg and Donna are still together and CFSSC has received other requests for services based on Greg’s recommendation.

People can make significant changes when given support and information and in Greg’s case, there are many positive ripples.
