Workshop Groups (multiple sessions)

Please note that groups are being offered by virtual means only at this time. Sessions will occur weekly using the Zoom Health platform. Participants must adhere to having their video and audio turned on each week. You will be required to complete a phone intake prior to the group start date. Multi-session groups are limited to 15 participants, so please register asap to secure your spot.

Y Mind Teen – Ages 13-18 (Thursdays; Feb 9 – Mar 23 / 3:30pm)

If anxiety is impacting your life and preventing you from doing what you want or need to do, this group is for you. Y Mind is a free seven-week mental wellness program delivered online by trained local Social Workers from the region of Simcoe/Muskoka. Y Mind is for both teens and youth who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety to learn and practice evidence-based strategies to increase coping. These groups are led by trained mental health professionals and gives teens and young adults the chance to connect with others who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings.

Youth DBT Skills Group (Tuesdays, Jan 31 – Mar 23 / 3:30pm) (Thursdays; Apr 20 – Jun 8 /3:30pm)

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a group that teaches skills to help youth cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others. In this program, we introduce the four key elements of DBT:
-Mindfulness: How to harness our own attention.
-Emotional Regulation: How to navigate feelings that affect our bodies & brains.
-Distress Tolerance: How to deal with discomfort & climb out of ‘thinking traps.’
-Interpersonal skills: How to represent ourselves well to others & self-advocate
