Plan Your Visit
Due to the drop in nature of the clinic it is difficult to predict how much time you may need to wait. If you have a specific time available it is important to inform the Intake Worker. Every effort is made to schedule you an appointment time during the clinic. You may be asked to return to the next clinic if all of the appointments are booked. We do not provide childcare services at any of our facilities. This does not pertain to instances where the child is participating in the counselling services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage you to make appropriate arrangements for your child prior to arriving at our facility.
Who Can Use This Service?
The Walk-In Counselling Clinic provides immediate counselling services to individuals, couples, and families living or working in Simcoe County. We recognize the importance of the family context and strive to be inclusive of persons of all abilities, religions, cultures, sexual orientation or gender identity. The sessions at a clinic are free to all members of the community, with no restrictions based on your address and no need for an appointment.
What to Expect
The Walk-In Counselling Clinic offers confidential, single-session counselling services on a first come, first served basis. When clients arrive at one of our clinic locations, we aim to have them seen as quickly as possible. Upon arriving at the Walk-In you will be given some paperwork that includes an Intake Form. An Intake Worker meets with you briefly to review the form and setup your single session with one of the clinicians at the clinics. Counselling sessions are approximately 1 hour in length. We recognize the unique needs and preferences of clients and work with them to develop a service plan based on consultation and best practice. Clients have the right to make decisions about the service options presented and refuse or discontinue service programs at any time. The focus of the session is determined by each client’s individual needs. Whether coping with a stressful situation, enquiring about services, or looking for an understanding and non-judgmental ear, our clinicians are trained to help clients address what is most important to them.
